Safety Guidelines
While travelling aboard TheBoat, you're a passenger on a small commercial vessel. Here are some safety tips you should know:
- Commercial vessel operators are required to provide a safety briefing to all passengers about safety equipment and emergency procedures it's the law. Please listen carefully while the operator provides this safety briefing.
- Be alert at all times for sudden movements of the vessel.
- Hold on to something. When standing, always hold on to stanchions, handbars or seatbars.
- Sit when possible.
- Do not sit in a stairwell.
- Our professional operators are trained to provide safe and reliable service. A crewmember will gladly assist you onboard TheBoat to make your trip safer.
There are many different alarms that are sounded on board a vessel. Here are a few examples of alarms you may hear during an event or a drill:
- Fire - a continuous blast of the alarm bell and the vessel's whistle followed by a short blast or blasts to indicate the location of the fire.
- Rescue - three (3) long blasts of the alarm bell and the vessel's whistle.
- Abandon Ship - seven (7) short and one (1) long blast on the alarm bell and ship's whistle.
- When the event or drill is over, you will hear three (3) short blasts of the alarm bell and the vessel's whistle.
Should this occur, please remain calm and follow all instructions as provided by the crew.
