- How large are the ferries?
The vessels are 72 feet long by 30 feet in width.
- What is the operating speed of the ferries?
The operating speed of the vessels is 25-28 knots. (30-35 mph)
- How many passengers can the ferries carry?
Each ferry will carry a maximum of 149 riders with ample interior seating.
- Can I bring my bike?
Yes, there are facilities for bicycle storage on the upper deck. Passengers must be able to handle their own bicycles, crew members cannot assist with the loading and unloading of bicycles.
- Can I take my dog on board?
Only certified service animals are allowed on board.
- Can the ferry accommodate passengers with special needs?
Yes, reasonable accommodations can be made for passengers with special needs. Contact TheBoat for additional information.
- Can strollers be taken on board?
Yes, Strollers are easily accommodated.
- Is there food service on the vessel? What amenities are offered?
Yes, there is food service. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, water and other beverages are available. There will also be limited food service. Food service will be revised and enhanced as guest tastes warrant.
- Are there restrooms on the vessels?
The ferries are equipped with two "heads" (restrooms) on the main deck.
- Is smoking allowed on the ferry?
No, there is no smoking on TheBoat.
- Is there outdoor seating?
Yes, the vessel is equipped with outside seats on the upper deck.
- How long does it take to empty the ferry of all passengers?
Five minutes is allowed to unload the vessel and another five minutes to load (10 minutes total to "turn" the vessel).
- Is luggage allowed on TheBoat?
Yes, hand luggage can be carried without a fee up to 40 pounds for each adult and 10 pounds for each child. Riders are responsible to attend to their own carry-on items. Crew cannot handle or unload baggage. Hazardous materials, firearms and illegal drugs are prohibited.
- Is luggage allowed on TheBus?
For TheBus carry-on items are limited to what a passenger can hold in their lap.
- Is WiFi access be available for laptop users?
Free WiFi service is available on TheBoat courtesy of DR Horton - Schuler Homes.
- Can laptop computers be charged on board?
The ferry has limited A/C receptacles on board. Access to these will be limited by one's seat location.
- Where will the ferries dock at night?
The ferries will overnight at the ferry pier in Kalaeloa.
